Warriors 4 Wildlife Inc. has played an important role of providing emergency relief supplies not only to shelters receiving injured, orphaned or displaced wildlife but to farms in the way of hay and livestock feed and to the surrounding communities for their domestic animals.

To date Warriors 4 Wildlife have successfully distributed over 700 hundred tonne of supplies through our network of volunteers across devastating fire and flood events in Victoria. We will continue to play this important role well into the future as natural disasters continue to threaten the country, our land and our wildlife.

Flooding Events

NSW and QLD FLOODS March 2022

Warriors 4 Wildlife became quite concerned about our colleagues in NSW and Queensland after the flooding events. We were approached to help out with supplies, medical and much needed equipment not only for wildlife but also for people’s pets. Our team was quick to put together a large package of goods to a vet clinic in Queensland but also a huge trailer load of goods taken by two hardworking people up to the lower flood areas in NSW. They both not only delivered goods donated by us and others but assisted with repairs and clean up.

Bushfire Relief

BLACK SUMMER BUSHFIRES 2019-2020

Throughout the summer from September 2019 to March 2020 hundreds of fires burnt across the country, mainly in the eastern and north eastern parts of Australia calling for multiple states of emergency. Over 46 million acres of land burnt and a devastating estimated three billion animals and reptiles perished, many endangered species driven close to extinction.

On the 3rd of January 2021 Warriors 4 Wildlife Inc. made a call out for donations to help the animals and people who were affected by the catastrophic bushfires in Victoria. Our relief effort lasted for over 6 months and received worldwide attention.

• Within the week we had spaces donated in 2 warehouses that were full of ongoing donations kindly donated by hospitals, businesses and members of the public.

• Hundreds of tonnes of donations were sorted, distributed and donated to many wildlife organisations, shelters, carers, farms and vets.

• Donations included, hay, livestock and animal feed, cages and animal enclosures/beds, medical products and more!

• Transport companies and volunteers donated their time and vehicles to help coordinate and distribute the donations throughout the bushfire region all the way to Mallacoota on the far east corner of Victoria.

• Our Sponsor the Australian Horizons Foundation along with Eye Candy Motor Sports and Flash Market donated $50,000 worth of animal feed at our BBQ day.

• Our Sponsor the Medical pantry donated 500kg of medical supplies, all to help the animals in need.
  

There was an enormous amount of support from the community in the way of sewing groups making pouches, schools building possum boxes and feeding stations, businesses hosting fundraising events and members of the public selling their artwork and jewellery etc all to help our native wildlife. We can’t thank everyone enough for their donations. We especially want to thank our volunteers and members of the public who pulled up their sleeves and who came together as a community to support our organisations cause.

Bunyip State Park Bushfires

On the 4 March, 2019, we posted a call on Facebook for donations to help the animals and people who were affected by the bushfires at Bunyip in Gippsland. Little did we realise what a huge response we were about to receive:

• The post reached over 600,000 people and we ended up with over 3,500 messages offering help in the first 24 hours.

• The next day, a new warehouse, as a main depot, had been donated. And 20 drop off points around Melbourne had been organised.

• Over 50 volunteers were engaged in picking up, dropping off, and sorting over 5 tonnes of goods on the first day.

• The next 3 weeks, over 180 tonnes were donated, sorted and delivered to those in need, including a donation of 72 tonnes of hay from our Sponsor, the Australian Horizon Foundation. We collaborated with a farm in Gippsland to distribute from. Within 3 days, it was distributed to all the local people in the fire affected areas.

• We supported Vet Clinics and many Wildlife Shelters with donations of medical supplies, food and equiptment.

• We gave relief to the community in helping them with food for their livestock, horses, dogs, cats and other small pets that was in need of support.

  We started to receive calls about injured animals coming onto private property. A team of volunteers was formed to help with the rescues. We found 14 burnt kangaroos, 2 koalas (sitting over 100 feet high in burnt trees), and possums that had all survived but in need of help. The month of March is one we will never forget. It was an amazing time for all that got involved, with many planning to continue to volunteer with W4W to carry on the vital work that we do.
