A good hobby!

Juvenile Australian Hobby

We received a call about this beautiful Juvenile Australian Hobby who was found on the ground by himself in the open. The member of the public was fantastic as he was kind enough to transport it over an hour away to a wildlife shelter.

The Australian Hobby also known as the "Little Falcon" is found widespread through Australia. They feed on a variety of prey including small birds and insects, generally at dawn or dusk. Skilled hunters, they are able to capture their prey in mid air and have been seen eating whilst still flying.

They are fast and can fly low to the ground especially during nesting season.

This little bird of prey is doing very well in care and when strong enough, will be released back to the area it was found.
