Quick thinking Member of Public!

We received a call about a juvenile magpie that had been caught in some children's soccer goal netting.

Themember of public had already removed the magpie from the netting, unfortunately there was a lot of netting caught around it's head, wings and feet. Our rescuer attended and was able to contain the magpie who very quickly relaxed, realising we were there to help. The remaining netting was removed in a few minutes, under the watchful eye of the magpies parents. There were thankfully no injuries to the bird and it was released after a good looking over. It flew off and reunited with it's waiting parents immediately. Thanks to the callers quick thinking this little bird was prevented from serious and life threatening injuries that can be caused when animals struggle in netting. Something that many animals are not saved from when they are caught in netting that is not safe for wildlife, on private fruit trees and commercial farms.
